27th Anniversary Trans-Pecos Scholarship Golf Tournament

April 11, 2011

Green Tree Country Club

Greetings, fellow golfers! Spring will be upon us soon and we would like to invite you to join us for some great fun, food, prizes, and golf at the 27th Anniversary Trans-Pecos SPE Scholarship Golf Tournament! Due to the popularity of the afternoon start last year, this will again this year be an afternoon round only with limited room for the first 46 Paid teams.

As always, proceeds go directly to our scholarship fund and science fair winners. Last year TPSPE funded seven ($2000 per year) scholarships to engineering students at major universities in this great state of Texas.

We thank you for your support of one of the original traditions in the Permian Basin by participating with a sponsorship and/or a golf team!

The golf tournament will be a Four Person Shamble with a team entry fee of $700 which includes:

  • Carts & green fees
  • 1st, 2nd , 3rd place gift certificates for all flights
  • Putting Contest, Closest to the pin, longest drive, and straightest drive contests
  • Pay $20 to have a Pro hit your tee shot on a par 4
  • AND….a try for a hole-in-one on a par 3 to win a 2011 Dodge 2500 Mega Cab 4x4 Diesel Pickup sponsored by All American Dodge Jeep Chrysler of Midland & Odessa.
  • AND…..The Grand Prizes will be a flat screen TV for each of the 3 flights.

Sponsorships and tournament awards will be announced after the conclusion of the tournament.

Several cookers will provide the usual great food before and during the round. Also, beverages will be available on the course at several locations.

The Grand Prizes will be randomly drawn at the conclusion of the round from the names of the entries from that day’s final registration and can be picked up near the registration table at that time.

You do not need to be present to win, but we’d like for you to be there for it and all the other awards!

Sponsorships are available from a $250 Bronze to the $1,500 Platinum. All Sponsorships will include a tee box sign and will be recognized on our sponsorship banner. Door prize and Contest sponsors are needed and will also be recognized with a tee box sign and the Scoreboard Banner.

Remember, sponsorship money goes to provide scholarships to the future engineers of the Permian Basin.

So, fill out your Sponsorship and/or Team Entry form today to insure you are part of this classic event! We look forward to seeing you on the course and your company’s very own tee box sign at Green Tree CC!

Sponsorships and Tournament Entry Fees are payable by check or credit card at Green Tree CC!

Please call to confirm your entry in the tournament before paying the entry fee!

The deadline is April 5th and Entries are limited to the first 46 teams.

Thanks in advance for making this a success!

Trans-Pecos Section SPE

Welcome to the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Trans-Pecos Section Home Page. The Trans-Pecos Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers is made up of petroleum industry professionals. We meet regularly to discuss subjects relating to the exploration, development, and exploitation of petroleum, natural gas, and other minerals. One of our main charges is to promote the science of petroleum engineering to those in our society. We also promote petroleum, geological, and physical sciences to the youth, educators, and general public in our jurisdiction through workshops, conferences, lectures, science fairs, and scholarships.

Our jurisdiction covers the Texas counties of Brewster, Crane, Culberson, Jeff Davis, Ector, Loving,Pecos, Presidio, Reeves, Terrell, Ward, and Winkler. This is 30,009 square miles containing some of the most prolific and productive petroleum producing areas in the State of Texas. Just to give you an idea of the size of area we cover, you can add up the areas of Vermont, New Hampshire, New Jersey, 2 - Rhode Islands and we still have over 800 square miles to spare!

We hope you will use this web site to check our activities and give us feedback. If you need any response from us, please go to the Officer's E-Mail Directory and send one of us a message so that we might help or assist you.

The Society of Petroleum Engineers

is a worldwide,individual-member organization serving engineers, managers, and scientists in the E&P segments of the oil and gas industry. Its mission is to provide the means for collection, dissemination, and exchange of technical information concerning the developments of oil and gas resources, subsurface fluid flow, and production of other materials through wellbores for the public benefit; and to provide opportunities through its programs for interested (and qualified) individuals to maintain and upgrade their individual technical competence in the aforementioned areas for the public benefit. SPE has more than 50,000 members in more than 100 countries.

TPSPE Meeting Receipts

Continuing Education Units

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), through SPE Professional Development, will award Continuing Education Units (CEU) for participation and completion of SPE short courses, distance learning programs, applied technology workshops, and sanctioned learning activities. One CEU equals 10 contact hours of participation in SPE continuing education activities. A permanent record of a participant's involvement and awarding of CEU will be maintained by SPE. SPE will provide a copy of the participant's record upon request. These CEUs may be used toward the 15 required Professional Development Hours (PDH) in the State of Texas for license renewal by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers.

The sections meetings of the SPE and their Study Group meetings may be used to accumulate PDH (Professional Development Hours). Down load the TP-SPE Spread sheet containing the 2003-2004 meetings list and enter the attended dates to get a form containing your acquired participation Contact Hours. Remember, 10 contact hours of participation equals one CEU.

Contact Hours 2009-2010

As you are probably aware, the state of Texas passed a new law (as of September 1, 2003) which requires all engineers licensed through the Texas Board of Professional Engineers to complete a designated amount of Professional Development Hours (PDH) per each annual renewal period.

The Texas Continuing Education Program (CEP) requires that each engineer licensed through the Texas Board of Professional Engineers obtain 15 PDH units each renewal period (annual) with a maximum of 15 PDH to be carried over into subsequent renewal periods.A minimum of 1 PDH per renewal period must be in the area of professional ethics, roles and responsibilities of professional engineering, or review of the Texas Engineering Practice Act and Board Rules.A minimum of 1 PDH per renewal period must be in the area of professional ethics, roles and responsibilities of professional engineering, or review of the Texas Engineering Practice Act and Board Rules.

For details as to how the required PDH’s may be earned, attached is a copy of the proposed rule along with the internet link
